About Magnolia Core
Our history, team, and approach to cost structure advisory for growing firms in Taiwan.

How we began
Magnolia Core was founded in 2016 when three former finance controllers left mid-sized manufacturing and distribution groups in northern Taiwan. They had spent years watching companies grow revenue while margins quietly eroded—often because overhead, supplier terms, and headcount plans were never reconciled after each expansion phase.
Rather than offering broad management consulting, the founding partners chose a narrow focus: helping owners and finance leads understand where money actually goes when a company moves from a single site to multiple locations, product lines, or export channels.
What we do today
We conduct structured reviews of cost categories, contract commitments, and allocation methods. Clients typically employ between 15 and 200 people and operate in manufacturing, distribution, professional services, or regional retail. Many are based in Taiwan; others are Asia-Pacific firms with Taiwanese operations or suppliers.
Our work is delivered by senior consultants who have held controller or FP&A leadership roles—not junior analysts producing template outputs.
Working approach
Each engagement starts with a discovery conversation to confirm scope, data availability, and timeline. We request recent financial statements, headcount rosters, major vendor contracts, and facility details. Site visits are arranged when occupancy or production layout affects cost allocation.
Deliverables are practical: category maps, variance explanations, and prioritized recommendations owners can act on without buying additional software or subscriptions.
Values
- Clarity over complexity — If a cost driver cannot be explained in plain language, we dig until it can.
- Owner-level relevance — We frame findings around decisions executives actually make: hire, lease, renegotiate, defer, or divest.
- Confidentiality — Client financial data stays within the engagement team. We do not publish identifiable case details without written consent.
Team
Chen Wei-Lin, Managing Partner — Former controller at a precision metals group; leads cost mapping and labour allocation work.
Sarah Huang, Senior Consultant — Fifteen years in distribution and logistics finance; specialises in supplier and freight spend.
David Kao, Consultant — Background in professional services firms; focuses on overhead and shared-service centre costs.
We maintain a small core team and bring in sector specialists when a client’s industry requires deeper operational context.
Relationship to clients
We are advisors, not auditors signing statutory accounts. Our reviews support internal planning, board discussions, and lender conversations. When findings overlap with tax or statutory reporting, we coordinate with your accountant rather than replace them.
